Dedication of the CSP Student Lounge to Dr. Julie Basler

Concordia University, St. Paul is honored to dedicate the Colorado Campus Student Lounge in recognition of Dr. Julie Basler, former President of Platt College, whose leadership and unwavering commitment to nursing education have left a lasting legacy.

Dr. Basler served as President and Chief Academic Officer of Platt College (2019-2024) in Aurora, Colorado, guiding the institution through transformational change and academic excellence. Her vision and passion for student-centered education helped shape the college into a respected institution known for academic rigor, innovation, and support for its nursing students. Throughout her tenure, Dr. Basler championed a culture of compassion, professionalism, and integrity—values that continue to shape the educational experience for nursing students today.

When Concordia University, St. Paul partnered with Platt College in 2023 to support a seamless teach-out for its students, Dr. Basler played a critical role in ensuring the transition honored the integrity of Platt College’s legacy. Her commitment to her students was evident in every interaction, whether she was guiding academic policy, mentoring faculty, or advocating for the best interests of learners. Her leadership not only enabled a successful transition to Concordia but also preserved a community of learning and support for hundreds of aspiring nurses.

This student lounge—now dedicated in her name—represents the heart of student life on the Colorado campus. It is a place for rest, conversation, connection, and encouragement, echoing the very qualities Dr. Basler cultivated throughout her career. Just as she tirelessly created spaces for students to grow and belong, this lounge stands as a reflection of her enduring impact and the values she held dear.

Dr. Basler’s contributions extended well beyond administrative leadership. She was known by students and faculty alike as approachable, kind, and fiercely dedicated to helping others succeed. She worked diligently to expand opportunities for diverse learners and create an environment where every student could pursue their dream of becoming a nurse, regardless of their background. Her legacy lives on in every graduate who crosses the stage, every nurse who enters the profession with confidence, and every student who finds support and strength in this learning community.

It is with deep gratitude and admiration that we dedicate this space in her honor. May it continue to inspire generations of nursing students to pursue excellence with the same courage and compassion Dr. Basler demonstrated every day. We invite all who pass through these doors to remember her commitment to learning, leadership, and love of nursing education.

Thank you, Dr. Julie Basler, for your extraordinary service and the indelible mark you have left on this campus and the future of nursing.
