The Concordia-St. Paul women’s basketball team continued its historic run by capturing its second consecutive NSIC Tournament Championship with a 79-71 win over No. 3-ranked Minnesota State in Sioux Falls. The title marked the sixth in program history and extended the Golden Bears’ winning streak to 16 games at the time, securing an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Region Tournament for the second straight season. Junior Lauren Wilson led the way with a dominant 18-point, 17-rebound performance to earn Tournament MVP honors, while Lydia Haack and Ashley Schuelke were both named to the All-Tournament Team. CSP showcased a balanced attack with five players scoring in double figures, while their defense held the Mavericks to just 31.7% shooting and limited them to three made three-pointers.
Carrying that momentum into the NCAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed, the Golden Bears advanced all the way to the Central Region Championship, highlighting one of the most successful seasons in program history. CSP earned its first regional win since 2014 with a 52-45 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State before knocking off No. 14 Fort Hays State 59-53 to reach the title game. The Golden Bears’ season ultimately came to a close in a hard-fought double overtime battle against Minnesota Duluth, 94-87, finishing the year 26-7 while tying a program-record 18-game winning streak. Behind standout performances from Haack, Wilson, and Avery Moeller, CSP’s postseason run reinforced its place among the top teams in the region and continued to build on the program’s championship tradition.
