Concordia University-St. Paul Student Body President Brendan Frazier took his advocacy to the Minnesota State Capitol, testifying before the House Higher Education Finance Committee regarding the effects of Operation Metro Surge on college campuses across the state.
Frazier, who also serves as Legislative Chair for the Minnesota Association of Private Sector Colleges (MAPSC), delivered testimony on behalf of Concordia University-St. Paul in partnership with the Minnesota Private College Council. His remarks focused on the harm and impact the federal immigration enforcement operation has had on students both in the Twin Cities metro area and in communities throughout greater Minnesota.
The committee hearing examined Operation Metro Surge’s reach across Minnesota campuses, providing legislators with direct accounts of how the effort has affected student populations.
Following his testimony, Frazier expressed gratitude for the opportunity to address lawmakers directly and praised the collective efforts of Concordia’s staff, students, and faculty in advocating for student welfare and community safety.
“I’m proud of staff, students, and faculty who continually advocate for students and community safety both on and off campus,” Frazier said. “There is much intentional work to be done, and it will take proactive efforts to repair.”
Frazier signaled that advocacy efforts on behalf of affected students are ongoing, emphasizing that repairing the impact of the operation will require continued, deliberate action from campus communities and legislators alike.
Frazier’s testimony begins at 22:26.
