Sophie Leo | Swimming & Diving
Junior swimmer Sophie Leo delivered a historic performance for Concordia-St. Paul at the 2025–26 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Evansville, Indiana, becoming the most decorated swimmer in program history. Leo competed in four events and earned three All-America honors, highlighted by a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke to claim First-Team All-America recognition—the highest finish ever by a Golden Bear swimmer. She also earned All-America Honorable Mention with a 12th-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle and added another All-America honor with a ninth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle after winning the consolation final. Leo broke four school records and posted four lifetime-best times during the meet, including a 22.99 in the 50 free and a 49.68 in the 100 free. She also finished 23rd in the 200-yard freestyle, improving nine spots from her initial seed. Leo totaled 29 team points across the championships, helping CSP finish 20th nationally while cementing her place as one of the top swimmers in program history.
Cam Mata | Indoor Track & Field
Sophomore Cam Mata represented Concordia-St. Paul on the national stage at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Virginia, earning USTFCCCA Second Team All-America honors in the long jump. Mata finished 15th in a competitive field of 18 athletes, recording a mark of 23′ 0″ (7.01m) on his final attempt of the day to move up one position from his qualifying rank. Earlier this season, Mata made history by breaking the CSP indoor long jump record with a leap of 24′ 2.25″, highlighting a standout sophomore campaign. His appearance also marked just the third time a Golden Bear has competed in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Championships, joining Diahn Zeon and Christian Davis. With the indoor season complete, Mata and the Golden Bears now turn their attention to the outdoor season, set to begin March 27–28 at the Wildcat Classic in Wayne, Nebraska.
