Krissi Girling

Krissi Girling, BA ’05, shared the following note: “After getting my Bachelor’s, I continued to work in social service field helping people with disabilities. I also had a child, moved to Wisconsin but I am originally from St. Paul and visit there all the time. I am very busy as a mom and caretaker support at my work enjoying the flexible hours. I would eventually like to go for my Masters. I have been offered a Supervisor position but because I’ve been so busy being mom I had to stay a lead (and still do some supervisory work). I for sure have the skills. If I get a masters I’ll have the qualifications to be a Manager as I have almost 30 years working in the field, so they said I’m definitely qualified experience-wise, just need to get that paper. I enjoy helping others, which is why I like the field. There are so many other areas I’d enjoy, for example helping the homeless get funding or foster care mentors. I am so happy I went into this field; it is very rewarding for me and it also is an essential position. I am glad I went to Concordia and made some great friends while there. I remember the restaurants and how much fun they were. It would be interesting to see how my fellow program peers are doing.”
